Advantame is a new generation sweetener synthesized from amino acids. It is a derivative of aspartame and neotame. Its sweetness is 20000 times that of sucrose. In 2014, the US FDA issued the final regulation to approve the high-power sweetener advantame as a non nutritional sweetener and flavor enhancer for use in foods other than meat and poultry. In 2017, the state health and Family Planning Commission approved advantame as a sweetener for food and beverages in its Announcement No. 8 of 2017.
